Even though it is not as big an appeal as Shimla, Kasauli had its residents of British tourists in summer. The Upper Mall where the finest of bungalows stood was out of the limits for Indians. The Kasauli Club did not allow Indians at all.
Flora & Fauna: Kasauli is actually a nature lover's delight. Wild growth full of flowers can spring up everywhere between April to June. The background, then, is full of wild roses, rhododendrons, coral tree, kachnar and kashmal.
Bird admirers will thoroughly enjoy the trip to Kasauli. They will be woken up by in the morning by the twittering of blackbirds and take pleasure in the singing of white-necked bulbuls, mynahs and hill-crows.
The Malls: The Upper and Lower Malls are the chief roads which run all along the length of Kasauli.
These are enclosed by chir pine, horse chestnuts, Himalayan oak and the odd juniper. The mall has several hotels and restaurants. The Malls are not as packed as in Shimla, and that is the reason the peace lovers are very comfortable in Kasuli.
Monkey Point: Monkey Point is another attraction and barely 4 km from the city and presents some outstanding views. It is the uppermost point in Kasauli and crowded with playful and naughty monkeys.
But it's not called Monkey Point for this reason. It's given this name because of the steep cliffs which can only be climbed by monkeys.
On a very clear night, the illumination of Chandigarh is clearly seen from Monkey Point. Kasauli is slowly and gradually gaining popularity and becoming the proffered weekend haunt for party freaks that scatter all along the hill sides with cartons, damaged beer bottles, and cigarette butt.
